Aboriginal Art - Murries, Gubbas and Islanders of Keppel Sands
[5202]
$650.00

This Aboriginal Art piece from 2004 is a story of the indigenous people that were brought to the area now known as Keppel Sands. The materials used in this piece are ochres from the land representing the beauty of the area. These are native materials used for painting and story telling before and after colonization. The three symbols enclosed by the rectangular shape is the aboriginal symbol for "home or meeting place". In this particular work its presence means both home and meeting place for these three distinct groups of people. We all share and embrace our many similarities as well as our differences as indigenous people. Mud, Oils, Ochre and Oxides on Paper. (36X26) Matted.
